RE: [Highland Park] Little League
We participate in Fox Chapel soccer (they have a developmental league) and Aspinwall Baseball (tee ball and up). It is close by and the children enjoy it. If you like I can get you information about registration dates. -----Original Message----- From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us [mailto:neighborhood-bounces@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us] On Behalf Of leslie setlock Sent: Monday, August 29, 2005 1:47 PM To: neighborhood@highlandpark.pgh.pa.us Subject: RE: [Highland Park] Little League What I learned about soccer is that the Dynamo league is the most popular and well-organized, but doesn't start until age 5. Before age 5, athletics seems to be mainly classes/activities (gymnastics, swimming, etc.) rather than team sports.

I have a 4-year-old son who's interested in baseball. I've tried to find out about little league for his age, and all I could find was a league in Squirrel Hill that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30pm. Does anyone know about a league for this age that meets locally on the weekend (or later in the evening)? I'm also interested in finding out about Soccer leagues, so if anyone knows about this, I'd appreciate any information you could provide. There doesn't seem to be a very good source of information for organized sports activities for children (I found the city's Park & Recreation website to be of little use). Thanks.

Our daughter played softball in the league sponsored by Sacred Heart. As I recall they also had baseball. You could probably call the church office for referral. Our son played in Little League and then in the Pony/Colt League sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club. Sacred Heart is Shadyside and the Boys and Girls Club is Lawrenceville, but both welcomed many Highland Park kids . . . . We also had with our daughter several years in Dynamo soccer, which was very well organized. Bruce Robison
