Girl Scout Christmas Tree Recycling January 11
We are once again doing our part to help keep fresh Christmas trees out of the landfill. The city has expanded its tree recycling program, adding more locations. BUT, if you live in Highland Park or East Liberty, our troop will make that process easier and pick up your tree and deliver it to the drop off to be turned into mulch. We are asking for a $5 donation to pick up your tree. If you are interested, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/CNF4cE8DFkYQYTaF9 <https://forms.gle/CNF4cE8DFkYQYTaF9> We will be picking up the trees on the afternoon of Saturday, January 11, aiming for between 12 and 5pm. If you are not in Highland Park or East Liberty, please go to this link to see if there is another troop who will be picking up in your area and to see the link to their forms: https://sites.google.com/view/gspghtrees-2020/home For further information about the city's program and where you can drop off for yourself, if you want to take care of your own tree: https://pittsburghpa.gov/dpw/xmas-tree-recycling Last year we were able to donate $230 to Hello Neighbor with the proceeds from our tree recycling program and our product sales efforts. This year, we mailed a dozen holiday boxes to female soldiers who are stationed in Iraq. Additionally, with the proceeds of our efforts, our 4-7 grade girls have gone camping, designed a new dog waste disposal system, learned about the city's recycling program and created a PSA for cleaning recycling containers, learned basic cooking skills, practiced cooking new cuisines, and learned about our solar system, among a few of the opportunities we've enjoyed with our fundraising. Thank you, neighbors, for your support of our troop and for helping to keep biodegradable materials out of our landfills! -- Heather and Melissa gstroop52498@gmail.com
