I stepped out of the shower just a little while ago (about 3:15), and realized there was quite a loud children row coming from behind my home in Costar way. Suddenly a rock came flying through the open back door, bounces off my cupboards, and lands on my kitchen floor. I run to the back door, and see further rocks raining down into my chicken pen. I let out my best disgruntled old fart; "Oi! Stop that you hellions!", and they scatter. Only one runs into view; a young, skinny white girl with long blond hair, I would guess about 9 or 10. She bolts through my neighbours yard, and out to Mellon Street. As I said; I had just stepped out of the shower, so it took me a minute to wipe shaving soap off my face, and pull on enough clothes to be seen in public with, but, of course; they were all long gone. However; this explains a few things: I have been finding unexplained rocks on my deck, yard, and paths lately, but given we have chickens figured perhaps they were responsible. Also; we have repeatedly returned home to find our back gate open, and twice recently; to find the chickens had been let out. I shall, of course; be more vigilant now, but given that this involves deliberate animal cruelty, and the fact that had I been working at the sink; I would have been hit, or that had the door been closed (and it is 3/4 glass); it would have been broken: I'm sure you'll understand when I say that next time, my first call will be to the police. I'm sure all my neighbours take time to explain why being cruel to animals is wrong, and to be respectful of people's property, but clearly some kids are leading others astray, and into bad behaviour. Please make sure your kids aren't being led down the wrong path, you don't want me turning up on your doorstep; I might not be in such a hurry to get dressed next time. Cheer Brett Sent from my iPad
