Pocket Constitutions at the July 4th Bike Parade
At the HPCC-sponsored bike parade on Monday, I handed out pocket constitutions, intending to share nothing more than the text of our founding documents. A neighbor has pointed out that this version was published by a very conservative right-wing anti-Semitic and white supremacist organization, and it contains selected quotes from founding fathers that the organization uses to support these positions, which I do not support. Thank you to the neighbor who pointed this out to me. I would like to apologize for not checking out the publisher of this version before handing them out. I was unaware of the background and views of that organization until a neighbor pointed this out. These were copies that I paid for, and nothing was provided by the Highland Park Community Council to support this. I hope that everyone will find a non-partisan version of these documents, as I believe that everyone should be aware of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence and have easy access to them. It appears that you can access a version of the pocket constitution with no additional commentary at www.govinfo.gov <http://www.govinfo.gov>. Bob Staresinic bob.63@netzero.net
