I'd like to add my two cents worth to the "Smartscape" controversy. Steve Swope was recommended to me originally by someone on this site and I've used him for lawn care ever since. He's been with me two years now in two locations and as a growing business owner myself, I can see that he's got a great business going and while there may be some room for improvement in a couple of areas, he is honest, hard working, reliable and professional. He responds well to constructive criticism and will do whatever is asked of him. He is on his own so unlike a large landscaping company if he has a personal emergency, that will affect his ability to show up on any given day. I have the same problem in my pet sitting business and I have advised him to get back-up, just as I have - to cover jobs when I have a family emergency, or illness, as we all do from time-to-time. Steve is an East End resident who has just started doing this full time; let's give him our support.
