Garden class: extending your season
Hello, HPers! This week's from Planning To Canning gardening class is called Natural Extensions. If you ever dreamed of growing some yummy sweet potatoes, or other longer season crops? Do you ever dream of having a fresh garden-grown salad in early March, or late November? do you wish that there were flowers blooming in your yard in April? Flowers that you didn't have to buy at a local garden center. Fantasize no more! Your wishes can come true! In Pittsburgh, there are an average of 118 days between last frost and first frost, but not all of those days are warm enough to support some of the longer season crops. Luckily, there are tons of simple, cheap, quick ways to make your dreams possible. Come to class this Wednesday and learn how! There are two sessions available: a morning session from 9:30 to 11:30 am, and an evening session from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. Classes will be held at Temple Sinai, 5505 Forbes Avenue in Squirrel Hill, 15217 (the corner of Forbes and Murdoch). The entrance is off of Forbes Avenue, between the two large stone columns. We will meet in room 206 of the school. Classes are $20 each, and I accept cash, check, major credit cards and PayPal. (Sliding scale available. No cost if it's a hardship.) If any of this sounds like helpful information, please come to class! RSVP suggested, but walk-ins are ALWAYS welcome! Rachel
