But I do expect a full complement of farmers and other vendors at the market this Saturday. While in Jamaica, I was able to visit the Kew Park Coffee Farm. I had the opportunity to spend the entire day on the farm with Peter Williams, owner and proprieter of the farm. It was a very interesting and I learned a lot about the art of growing and processing coffee. I am glad to report that the 2011 crop is coming along very well. The Coffee cherries are healthy and developing nicely. Also, we are very close to completing our application to become a licensed importer of coffee beans from Jamaica. Soon we will be able to import larger supplies of "green" beans and roast them locally here in Pittsburgh.I took a bunch of photos at the farm and will have some printouts at the market this Saturday. I also brought home more of the Jamaican light brown sugar which goes great with the Kew Park Coffee. Please stop by the coffee bar and check it out.See you at the market!David Lagnese***********************************************************Bike RackPlease note that we now have one of those cool circular bike racks installed in front of the building. So bike on in! Special thanks to Christine Berger from the Mayor's office and Emily Keebler from Patrick Dowd's office who made this happen!********************************************************* Please visit the market's website for information on the market and all the vendors.
