Hello Neighbors I have started a small business to sharpen scissors and rotary blades, called Bob's Cutting Edge. My business is mostly a mobile sharpening service, where I go to barber shops, beauty salons, pet grooming, tailoring, upholstery and fabric shops and take their scissors out to my van to sharpen them. I like to sew and quilt, and when I started asking around at barber/beauty/fabric shops to find out where they get their scissors sharpened, they mostly all said that there was a guy who would come around to do this, but he does not do that anymore. I have since found out that the two main guys who provided this service, Jerry and Bob, have both passed away in the past 5 years. So I learned how to sharpen scissors, and have been doing this in shops for the past six months. Since I have no luck in trying to create a sharpening event at Joann Fabrics (which is where I would take mine in the past), and I know that the local sewing community has a need for sharpening, I have decided that I should see if folks would be ok dropping their fabric scissors off to me for sharpening here in Highland Park. I can do most any type/size of scissor, pinking shears, and also do blades (28, 45 and 60 mm) for rotary cutters. I have done a sharpening event at Firecracker Fabrics in Morningside in early December, and will probably do more in the coming year as it warms up, depending on how this virus decides to act to allow gatherings. I am currently not doing clipper blades, knives or garden equipment. There are other sharpeners out there, and some do sharpen knives. Dan at Atomic Celt does knives, and lives in Highland Park. His email is atomiccelt@gmail.com and phone number is 412-608-7822. Aaron and Liza at A&L Sharpening in Fox Chapel sharpen knives and garden equipment. Their email is sharpeningpgh@gmail.com and their phone number is 412-216-4507. With both of these, you drop your stuff off and come back another day to pick them up. Feel free to call or text me at 412-400-4817, or email me at bobscuttingedge@gmail.com if you have some scissors or rotary blades that need to be sharpened. Thanks Bob
