I was at the Highland Park Dog Park around noon today, Monday 7/1/19. Charlie the Bloodhound, who I was with was doing his usual routine of sniffing the perimeter etc was by the fence when this white pit bull (with brown and black markings around its head) started to try and hump Charlie who was much taller. The owner, a light skinned, muscular black manwearing shorts and a wife beater called to his dog. I started to walk over there to remove Charlie when the pit started getting very very aggressive. I kept saying, progressively louder, "please get control of your dog" several times. The pit's owner yelled at me for being in his way! Once he pulled his dog off and away, he continues to YELL to me "They're dogs! That's what they do!!" to which I replied "not here!" So, I removed Charlie from the park and took him up to the fountain to do his business and for both of us to calm down. I received a phone call from a friend Karen, who was there and witnessed the whole thing. She told me the same pit bull had earlier attacked a dog while they were in the entrance pen. She said tensions were high before Charlie was assaulted, and continued after we left. A few people left after the incident, but the pit and owner stayed. When I got home, and cleaned him up, I contacted animal control and left the information. Perhaps I should have called 911 immediately after it all went down, but I was only concerned in getting Charlie out and away. Frank Czuri 6534 Jackson St Pittsburgh, PA 15206
