Dear Neighbors, The Rachel Carson Homestead Association has kindly been given the opportunity to reserve Rachel Carson’s cottage on Southport Island in Maine for the week of July 15-22, 2017. To help fund operations, RCHA is offering only 100 chances at $100 each for lodging at this 4-bedroom oceanside summer cottage. Rachel Carson selected her spot on the Maine coast, designed and had this summer home built from which she enjoyed and wrote about tide pools and the surrounding woods. This ”Edge of the Sea” cottage has a screened porch, western-facing deck from which to view the sunset, paths to the ocean, and granite outcrops with sandy tide pools. Other attractions include whale-watching, kayak and bicycle rentals, and more at nearby Boothbay Harbor.
