Mass march to End the War, Rebuild Our Communities Saturday Dear friends, Please forward and attend if you can. As the costs of the war rise -- in human lives and in cutbacks to social funding -- the theme of this Saturday's march becomes more important -- End the War, Rebuild Our Communities! 2:30pm, Saturday, March 19 Forbes & Murray, Squirrel Hill Followed by a march to Pitt. where a rally will be held at 4pm at the William Pitt Union Featuring Rusted Root's Jim Donovan, nationally acclaimed slam poet Vanessa German, State Senator Jim Ferlo, and Diane Davis Santoriello, the mother of a U.S. solider recently killed in Iraq; and other speakers and performers. On the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq, Saturday March 19, the Thomas Merton Center and over 35 participating organizations will hold a mass permitted march and rally as part of a global day of action called for by United for Peace and Justice and the World Social Forum. We can end this war if everyone who opposes it joins us in the streets. Related events include -- Thursday -- A video screening at CMU featuring never-before-seen footage of recent US atrocities committed in Fallujah. Friday -- Starting at 6:00pm, an all-night candlelight vigil at the corner of Forbes and Murray. Saturday -- * Sign-making at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer on 5700 Forbes near Murray on Saturday at 1:30pm. * An Ecumenical prayer service at 2:00pm at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer to kick off the Ecumenical Bloc. * A Peace Circle at 1:30pm at the Presbyterian church steps at Forbes & Murray. * Black Voices for Peace weekly anti-war protest from 1:00 - 2:00pm at Penn and Highland.
