Hi List I need to get my family of 6 to the airport and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for car or limo services that could do it without costing me an arm and a leg. We don't have a vehicle big enough to get everyone there, so I'd rather not leave 2 cars in extended parking for the trip. Thanks in advance! -Todd Shirley
Hi Everybody Thanks for all the responses to my inquiry about getting my family to the airport! You guys are awesome! Here's a summary: The number one suggestion by far was SuperShuttle. The number two suggestion was the 28X Airport Flyer City bus. One person suggested I rent a minivan in the city and return it at the airport. 28X Airport Flyer bus: roundtrip total for 6 people - $39 - CHEAP! I've taken this bus and it is pretty awesome, but we have 2 senior citizens, one 4-year-old and a ton of luggage. We would have to get us and all our stuff to the bus route in Oakland by 6:30 am. Not happening. Super Shuttle: roundtrip for 6 people - $145 in a shared van / $260 in an exclusive van I called to ask about discounts for our group and these are the cheapest possible prices (and these include my AAA discount). This is way more than I wanted to pay. I could actually get an exclusive passenger van from a limo service for $220 roundtrip. Renting a minivan: roughly $150 roundtrip I like the ingenuity here, and certainly the cheapest exclusive vehicle, but a super hassle to pick-up and drop off, which adds a lot of time to both ends of the trip. Leaving 2 cars in extended airport parking for 8 days: $128 I think this is what we will do. I had a fantasy that I could get a car service to take us roundtrip for less than this, but even SuperShuttle can't beat this price. I should mention that a couple people actually offered to drive us, which is incredibly generous and totally amazing, but I can't accept something like that.
