[Highland Park] 226 N Negley (Hollister's Garage) Zoning Hearing
Hello, For all interested parties' information there is a zoning hearing this Thursday, September 20th at 10am, for a variance for the Hollister's Garage property at 226 N. Negley Ave. The buyer would like to turn the garage into a convenience/grocery store. East Liberty Development Inc has met with the buyer about his plans but has chosen not to support the project at this time. We feel that the buyer has not yet done sufficient work with the community to gain support for the project. This is especially the case since the land is zoned RM-M, which stands for residential multi-family at moderate density, and the buyer's proposed use would be commercial and could subject the surrounding residents to increased traffic, as well as all the other potential problems surrounding convenience/grocery stores (lights, loitering, noise, garbage, etc.). All residents concerned to ensure the continued transformation of the Negley Ave corridor from a high crime area to a stable, mixed income community are encouraged to attend. Thank you.
