Neighbors, One of my favorite quotes is from the founder of 1-800-Got-Junk: "You are what you can't throw away." When I look at what I have laying around the house and think about this quote, I tense up. I don't want my possessions to define me, and I REALLY don't want the stuff lying in the basement to define me. It is time to reduce the clutter. Clean out those closets, empty out the basement, and make some money in the process. The Highland Park Community Council coordinates the Great Highland Park Yard Sale. As in years past, we expect over a thousand bargain hunters to visit the neighborhood. It will be held on Sunday, June 1st, beginning at 9am. It lasts as long as you like; things generally quiet down around 1pm. For those with limited yard space or foot traffic, there will be a flea market at the corner of Bryant and Highland. The Bryant Street Festival will be held in the afternoon. Stop by after the yard sale to see everyone and grab a bite to eat. To generate interest in the yard sale HPCC will post an advance, no-address, listing on the Highland Park website. This has been a big success. The website experiences record traffic in the week as people searched for items to buy. Get your yard sale form in early so treasure hunters can take a look at what you'll be selling. It is east to participate. This year you have the option to sign up via the Highland Park Community Council website. Visit www.hpccpgh.org and click on the yard sale link register. If you prefer to use the registration form, please complete and email or deliver the form with your payment of $15 cash or check (made out to HPCC) no later than Sunday, May 24th, to Paul Miller, 5714 Elgin Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 Your payment covers advertising and printing costs for maps, signs and address/sale item listings.
