The Tree Tender Symposium
Calling all Tree Tenders! Join Tree Pittsburgh at the second annual Tree Tender Symposium <https://www.eventbrite.com/e/tree-tender-symposium-tickets-25994102059> Saturday, July 16 at the August Wilson Center downtown from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The Tree Tender Symposium will bring Tree Tenders from across Pittsburgh and Allegheny County together to connect and share strategies for tree advocacy in their neighborhoods. Network with fellow Tree Tenders as we highlight projects and neighborhoods to inspire everyone. Guest Speakers Include: Fred Hain, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Entomology and Director of the Forest Restoration Alliance, will focus on invasive hemlock adelgid insects and his research for a long term goal of breeding resistant fir and hemlock trees. Sandy Feather, Extension Educator at The Penn State Center, will speak on common insect pests of urban trees and mechanical control options and organic treatments for the homeowner. A light breakfast and lunch will be provided. Tickets are $10.
