Veterans Event The Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center (ENEC) is proud to sponsor a Veterans event featuring Karen Payne, career advisor and case manager at the Veterans Leadership Program (VLP) of Western PA. She will present on the following opportunities to support veterans’ needs: • Overview of what services VLP provides to veterans and their families. • Housing – Seven individual housing programs ranging from 12 months stay up to 36 month. • Three rental assistance housing programs • Life skills training, individualized goal setting leading to self-sufficiency, referrals for supportive services. • Eligibility: Veterans status, low income, proof of homelessness, must have some income. • Employment program for homeless and non-homeless veterans and their families • Vocational counseling, resume preparation, job development, workshops, and job fairs. • Individualized assessment and one-on-one assistance in supporting veterans in their job search. • Helping veterans remove barriers to employment. • Some supportive services for transportation, clothing and tools. • How the Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center will help you with employment. • Contacts and referrals with many employers. Both program coordinators will perform functions relating to the ongoing operations of the employment center sites. Each staff person will perform or supervise all functions related to their specified employment center. The Program Coordinators must be highly motivated, independent people who have a passion for community engagement, the will to push an agenda, and the expertise to effectively perform this multi-faceted position. Each position demands someone with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and open communication with staff and community. A few special emphasis areas are: * Youth ages 14 to 21 * Foster Care * Veterans * Community members with criminal backgrounds Responsibilities: 1. Oversees the implementation of the West End Works Neighborhood Employment Center/East End Neighborhood Employment Center and related Tech Lab activities 2. Manages the staffing schedule to ensure that the centers are open during scheduled program hours 3. Supervises center staff and volunteers—including volunteer recruitment and scheduling 4. Manages the orientation of all new staff and volunteers 5. Advertises the center to local neighborhood residents 6. Works with organizational leadership to ensure laptops and other technology is functioning properly 7. Ensures the cleanliness and security of the center 8. Develops relationships with employers and community members to create employment opportunities for residents 9. Monitors and adjusts overall staffing of program sites/services 10. Manages sign in and out procedures 11. Works with Neighborhood Learning Alliance, Eastside Neighborhood Employment Center, and Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation leadership to develop weekly and monthly schedule and markets schedule to neighborhood residents 12. Monitor participant enrollment and participation rates and works with staff to take appropriate corrective actions when necessary 13. Implements and monitors mechanisms for tracking all program outcome data 14. Develops all program and funder reports 15. Interacts with employers and other institution partners to create employment and training opportunities for local residents 16. Implements center trainings 17. Performs any and all other duties as assigned Requirements: * A Bachelor’s degree or at least 3 years of program management experience * Criminal, Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprint Clearances * A valid PA driver’s license and functioning vehicle * Computer Skills: able to manage databases * Work experience with community groups and urban youth preferred Working Conditions The incumbent generally performs the duties of the position at a computer lab location or in the surrounding community. He/she will have extensive direct contact with clients and will spend some time out of the office. Extensive communication with employers and other agencies is necessary. The position involves periodic automobile transportation use. The position involves working with highly confidential information.
