Where: 5139 Penn Avenue, between Evaline and Winebiddle at CatapultPGH. What: Just like kindergarten, but all grown up. At "Show and Tell" people in the Garfield/Bloomfield/Friendhip neighborhood show and talk about projects they are working on. What's going to happen: several people who work or live in the neighborhood will discuss what they are working on, or what is obsessing them lately, with a friendly audience. Why: To help people and organizations in the neighborhood learn about each other and to foster a vibrant local community. Who is Showing and Telling: 1) The team from Scenable.com, a local tech startup based at CatapultPGH which is developing a mobile platform to help people connect to neigbborhood businesses and organizations. 2) Emily Kaufman who runs Emport, a company which distributes gluten testing kits. Emily also works out of Catapult. 3) A.J. Tarnas. A.J. is in the process of staring up a Tool Lending Library in Friendship. 4) Rich Engel, from the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation 5) Maybe someone from the Sprout Fund. If not this month, then another month. 6) You! All attendees will get a chance to introduce themselves and give a 30 second description about what they are working on currently. And what is CatapultPGH exactly? CatapultPGH is a coworking community. Here is the Wikipedia definition of coworking: "Coworking is a style of work which involves a shared working environment, sometimes an office, yet independent activity. Unlike in a typical office environment, those coworking are usually not employed by the same organization. Typically it is attractive to work-at-home professionals, independent contractors, or people who travel frequently who end up working in relative isolation. Coworking is the social gathering of a group of people, who are still working independently, but who share values, and who are interested in the synergy that can happen from working with talented people in the same space." Who is organizing this? Jonny Goldstein is the organizer of CatapultPGH's Show and Tell series. Jonny is a graphic facilitator who specializes in using group graphics to foster community.
