YOUTH CLAY CLASS * Wouldn’t it be nice to keep the kids busy while you shop and clean for the holidays? Drop them off at Union Project for a three week ceramics class! Students will create with clay each week, and learn basic hand-building and sculpture techniques. This class is designed for children ages 9-12. 3 Saturdays, Nov 7-21, 9-11am Instructor: Joe Delphia, art instructor at Community College of Allegheny County and Union Project ceramics co-op member Cost: $80 *SQUIRT CLAY CLASS * Students will explore the physical characteristics of clay and clay construction by making pinch pots, beads and medallions, decorative plates and bowls, and ceramic figures. They will learn how to integrate clay and fibers, practice the African tradition of Mangbetu Pressed Coils, and use additive and subtractive techniques to alter the surface of clay.
