Saturday, July 8, 2006 - 8:00 PM Heinz Hall The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is proud to present Pastime, a piece dedicated to three baseball legends and based on Michael Harper's poem "Blackjack." Pastime represents jazz as it would have been during the time period each of the players lived. It was commissioned by the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, the Brooklyn Philharmonic, the Atlanta Symphony and the August Wilson Center for African American Culture in Pittsburgh. Pastime is sponsored by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. After intermission, the multi-talented singer and songwriter Brian McKnight will take the stage. The concert will feature him solo at the piano performing his hits which include "Back at One," "Anytime," and "Love of My Life." His 1999 record, Back at One, has sold more than 3 million copies.
