[Highland Park] Invitation to Tree Care Day in East Liberty
Saturday, March 24, 2012 From 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., community members will inspect the trees planted last Fall and (1) prune any winter damage, (2) remove weeds and trash around the base of the trees, and (3) mulch as necessary. We will also be looking for commitments from additional people to care for individual trees on the 5800 block of Black Street, the 500 and 600 blocks of North Beatty Street, and along Highland Avenue adjacent to the high school and sports field. The biggest part of this commitment is seeing that each tree gets 20 gallons of water per week from April to November. (You don’t have to bring the water with you; there is some nearby.) Lunch will be provided at noon for those who are caring for the trees. Please let us know if you are coming by sending an email to buddem@att.netor calling 412.860.9524. If you are interested in learning more about trees, and becoming a certified Tree Tender – which is NOT necessary for this event – contact Tree Pittsburgh:
