Re: [Highland Park] Halloween
Our family is for this!! We are in the 1100 block of N. Highland. in the meantime - if you witness something or you are the victim YOU must report any incidents to the police; this is the only way our neighborhood will have more and better patrolling. The police were out strong catching speeders along N. Highland all summer and that came about due to numerous complaints of drivers going over the speed limit. Also call the Major's Hotline '311' and send a message there! Remember 'the squeaky wheel gets the attention'; so come on everyone 'let's squeak' together!!!!!!!!! thanks and be safe! **************Play online games for FREE at Games.com! My experience, from living in several particularly crime-ridden cities around the country, is that the combination of attentive neighbors and dogs is a really good combination for deterring crime. From what I have seen, criminals seem to be particularly afraid of dogs. Since there are so many dog owners in Highland Park, this is something I think we can easily use to our advantage. I am new to the area, and I don't know whether Devil's Night is an issue here, but if it is, it seems to me that on Oct 30 & 31 it would be a great deterrent if anyone who has a dog simply takes them for a nice, long walk after dark. Since most of us need to walk our dogs at some point anyway, it would be an easy way to make an instant evening neighborhood watch for those two nights. Plus, if each walker went for a walk that was just twice their normal length, we would double our effect. I'll be out with my dog Vader, so maybe I'll see you then.
