New Highland Park Neighbor featured at the 2015 St. Andrew's Lecture: We're all reminded that the 18th Annual St. Andrew's Lecture will be held this Friday, October 9, at 8 p.m. -- and with a follow-up discussion session with a panel response and small groups scheduled for Saturday morning, October 10 (refreshments at 9, program 9:30 a.m. - Noon). A great opportunity for all of us in the Highland Park neighborhood to meet our 2015 Lecturer, the Rev. Dr. David V. Esterline. David is the new President of the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, right down the street on North Highland Avenue--and he and his wife, the Rev. Jane Esterline, are new Highland Park neighbors as well! David has a long and varied career as a teacher, researcher, and administrator. Of special interest is that much of that career has been centered in what we used to call the "foreign mission field," in places like Cameroon and Melanesia. David will be sharing with us in his lecture something of what he draws from that context of his experience as he comes to a position in which he will play a key roll in leading an institution that is so important in shaping ministerial leaders, clergy and lay, for service here in Western Pennsylvania. The Saturday morning program will be more informal, allowing David to join in conversation with a panel made up of some seminarians and others engaged in ministry in our community--and then providing some time for more extended small group discussion. With coffee and bagels! So please join us. The Friday evening lecture will be followed by a reception in Brooks Hall to honor and welcome David and Jane. St. Andrew's is located at 5801 Hampton Street, in the Highland Park neighborhood.
