[Highland Park] pond near the HP pool - UGH!
- drove by the pond this evening (Thurs., 6/7) and it looks terrible! Plastic bags and other trash floating in it and tons of algae.....who (persons/dept) is to maintain this area? More trash cans are needed in this area - I have called the '311' number numerous times last year and nothing happened....maybe someone else has more power to get something done in this area. - also, at the bottom of One Wild Place where you make a right to head towards the HP Bridge or Allegheny Blvd., there is a PAT bus stop there and the area is always full of litter. Is this area the responsibility of PAT, the Zoo or who?? Anyway, a trash can or two are needed there as well (that's just my opinion). If there is anyone with 'the power' to get things done better than calling 311 - please HELP! thanks everyone/anyone for listening! Sue :)
It is a shame that the pond looks so awful. Just so you all know, my Girl Scout Troop had a clean up day there in April. The girls pulled out 8 bags of trash and also about 4 bags of recyclables. We will have another clean up next spring. In the meantime, cleaning the pond (Lake Carnegie) would be a great community project for other youth groups. The location definitely needs more trash cans. We called 311 last week. Everybody needs to bombard them with calls and emails until it is cleaned. Thanks- Justin ** Sent from my iPhone so please excuse any typos ** On Jun 8, 2012, at 9:12 AM, "susuboombatz@aol.com<mailto:susuboombatz@aol.com>" <susuboombatz@aol.com<mailto:susuboombatz@aol.com>> wrote: - drove by the pond this evening (Thurs., 6/7) and it looks terrible! Emails to the Mayor's service center seem to work better than calling 311. There is also a clearer record, and they do get back to you. I called and emailed many many times 2 years ago, and they did get a boat out and cleaned the pond a few times. There is a plan with the Parks Conservancy to redo the whole Lake Carnegie area, but I am not sure what the timeline is. Calls to them may be helpful, also. ________________________________________ From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com [neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com] On Behalf Of Justin J.
