Hidden plans for Euclid Ave. bike ride at 5 pm this Friday
Hi, Neighbors, I am sending this in order to help prevent accidents. Today we received an email from MoveForwardPGH whose headline said: Survey Alert: Shadyside Bike Connector. We happened to scroll down and noticed beneath the Survey a notice about Neighborway Bike Ride plans that included a sponsored ride on Euclid Ave. this Friday (June 4) between 5 and 6, a time when many people are coming home from work. I would like to know why this is being allowed at a time where there is likely to be more of a conflict between cars and bicycles and without notice to the HPCC and to media in general. Without broad communication in advance of such events, many people may NOT be aware of what is happening, and it is much more likely that accidents can occur. janet jai, MLA vision-and-values.com

The Shadyside Corridor has long been an important route and connector for people on bikes, ranking high in the city’s annual bike count. Sandwiched between the heavily car oriented Fifth Ave and the Baum/Centre corridor, it provides one of the better bicycling options for an east-west connection between Oakland and points east.

I saw that email as well. We have a ride scheduled on Reynolds. It seems that a lot of my neighbors assumed the plan was canceled until they decided to install the circles this week. Would any of you be interested in protesting the rides on Euclid and Reynolds? Although it maybe a little late to get a good turn out on Euclid. I was going to post on Nextdoor and Facebook for Reynolds, if you think it’s a good idea. Thanks, Grant Bacharach 412-303-7999
