Hi neighbors, I discovered today that an old rechargeable battery from a Sony PSP is swollen but not yet leaking. Does anyone know where I can take this to be safely disposed of? When stores start to open I was going to go through the list on Call2Recycle to see which if any can take a hazardous one, but if anyone has first-hand experience that would be a great help. Thanks! Chris
Hi everyone, I had a few people ask for an update as to where dangerous batteries can be disposed of. I was able to take it to Evolution E-Cycling in the South Side, they took it and did not charge a fee. Another suggestion was Batteries Plus on McKnight Road, who would be able to handle it but may or may not have charged a $16 depending on the condition. Another option is Pittsburgh Environmental Services in the Strip, who would charge a small fee but are by appointment only, with no openings until mid-August. The Frick Environmental Center may or may not be able to handle it, but they did not answer their phone so I could not confirm. I had a number of suggestions to drop it in the recycling boxes at various department stores. However since this battery was hazardous and could potentially leak or explode, this is strongly discouraged as an employee or customer could be injured if they handle the bin and the battery ruptures. Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! Chris On Tue, Jul 28, 2020 at 9:02 AM Chris Flyer <christopher.flyer@gmail.com> wrote:
