Express Bus Routes to Downtown Pittsburgh
Hello, I am new to the neighborhood and working downtown. I take the bus each day, the 71A, 71B, and when the weather permits, I hike to the 87 or down to the East Liberty busway stop. While I am grateful for the option of public transit and enjoy the reading time, it does result in more time than I would prefer to spend commuting to and from work each day. I heard from someone recently that there once was a bus that ran through Bryant St. and down to the busway, with only a couple of options each weekday. This option would make my commute exponentially better, and I'm sure those of you who work downtown can relate. Some light research uncovered the now defunct *73B Highland Park Express*: http://www-afs.secure-endpoints.com/afs/dementix.org/archive/transit/73B.pdf Does anyone know the circumstances that ultimately drove the Port Authority to cancel this route? With the evolving demographics of the neighborhood is there a realistic possibility of getting it back? What can we do to influence the Port Authority? Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated. Jack
