An off-duty officer reported that he witnessed a car crashed into a tree in the 7800 block of Kelly Street. A male victim inside the vehicle appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from our Violent Crime Unit (VCU) are handling the case. (93572) *5/22/17 Burglary - 200 block Cain Way. *(93309) *5/23/17 Burglary - 2200 block East Hills Drive. *(94260) *5/23/17 Overdose (Non-fatal) - Race Street & N. Homewood Avenue.* Officers responded to an unknown age female who overdosed on heroin. Two doses of Narcan were administered and the female was transported to the hospital. (94059) *5/26/17 Robbery - 2300 block East Hills Drive, 10:41 PM.* A 19 year-old pizza delivery driver reported that he was returning to his vehicle after making a delivery when three unknown black males approached him. One of the males pulled out a black handgun and demanded the victim's money. The victim drove off. He was uninjured and the robbers did not get anything. (96402) *5/27/17 Stolen Vehicle - 2300 block East Hills Drive.* A 2016 gray Nissan Altima (MD plate 5CE-2079) was stolen. (97202) *5/27/17 Burglary - 2200 block Wilner Drive. *(96621) *5/27/17 Robbery - Frankstown Avenue & N. Homewood Avenue, 9:05 PM.* A 48 year-old female victim reported that she was waiting on a ride when she was picked-up from behind and slammed to the ground. The suspect was described as a black male, 20-30, wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, with medium length hair with plaits. The male grabbed the victim's purse and fled in a black pick-up truck. The victim does not know the suspect's name but has purchased cigarettes from him before. He is known to frequent the area. (96995) *5/29/17 Burglary - 6960 5th Avenue (Hook Fish & Chicken), 2:44 AM. *(97827) *Larimer / Lincoln-Lemington* *5/27/17 Robbery - 1400 block Oberlin Street, 5:30 PM. *A 45 year-old male pizza delivery driver reported that he was delivery an order to Oberlin Street when three black males came out to his vehicle. Two of the men produced handguns and robbed the victim. Police were not notified of the robbery for about an hour after the incident. (96915) *Bloomfield / Garfield / Friendship* *5/22/17 Burglary - 4500 block Carroll Street. *(93223) *5/23/17 Overdose (Non-fatal) - 4000 block Cabinet Way, 7:47 PM.* Officers responded to a 35 year-old male who overdosed on heroin. Narcan was administered and the individual was transported to the hospital where he is expected to recover. (94375) *5/23/17 Homicide (Domestic) - 800 block N. Atlantic Court, 8:00 PM.* Officers responded to a report that the body of a 25 year-old female had been discovered in the woods behind the 800 block of N. Atlantic Court. Police, Fire, and EMS units responded and confirmed the victim had been found nearly 100 feet over the hillside. Pittsburgh Police VCU detectives responded to the scene and are handling the case. Zone 5 officers did locate the victim's vehicle later in the evening and a person of interest has been taken into custody. (94254) *5/23/17 Violent Domestic - 400 block Donna Street, 9:30 PM. *Officers responded to a call for a violent domestic in the street. The first responding unit arrived within seconds and found Eric Vaughn Young, 25, of Sheraden, in the middle of the street, covered in blood. Young was screaming at a female on the porch. The female (later determined to be the 24 year-old victim) yelled to officers that Young had a gun. Officers were able to hold Young at gunpoint until back-up arrived and could dawn protective gear and place him in handcuffs. Paramedics arrived and transported Young to UPMC Presbyterian with stab wounds. Officers learned that Young was involved in an argument with his ex-girlfriend. Young assaulted the victim, who stabbed him in self defense. Young then pulled a gun from his waistband and threatened the victim and struck her dog with the gun. Young discarded the gun just prior to running into the street and encountering officers. Responding officers found the gun and learned that it was reported stolen and Young was prohibited from possessing firearms based on his criminal history. Young was treated at UPMC then taken to jail. (94304) *5/28/17 Bar Fight - 4509 Liberty Avenue (Howler's Bar), 11:00 PM.* Officers responded to a fight at an event at Howler's Bar. Witnesses not involved in the incident stated that they saw 20-30 people fighting in front of the bar and someone pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the air. The participants scattered. Officers attempted to investigate the incident but witnesses involved in the incident were uncooperative and would not provide any information. (97724) *East Liberty / Highland Park* *5/24/17 Theft from Vehicle - 1100 block Winterton Street.* (94565) *5/24/17 Theft from Vehicle - 1200 block N. Sheridan Avenue. *(94656) *Morningside / Stanton Heights / Waterworks Mall* *Nothing Significant to Report* Crimes listed in the above report include: Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Burglary, Arson, Stolen Cars, & Thefts from Vehicle. *We do not list information for car accidents, retail theft, harassment, minor assaults, etc. * *This Week's Notable Arrests* *5/22/17 6:51 PM S. Pacific Avenue & Liberty Avenue Arrestee 1: Anthony Demart, 33, Bethel Park Arrestee 2: Shane Patrick McGinnis, 35, of Bethel Park Summary: *Officers responded to a drug complaint in the 300 block of S. Pacific Avenue and encountered Demart and McGinnis sitting in a vehicle, shooting heroin. Officers detained the pair and searched the vehicle, recovering (23) stamp bags of heroin, a bag of crack cocaine, hypodermic needles, and other drug paraphernalia. Both males were arrested. (93558) *5/23/17 4:50 PM Mohler Street & Brushton Avenue Arrestee 1: Montay Tyler Clancy, 21, of Wilkinsburg Arrestee 2: Michael Shaquon Kennedy, 21, of Wilkinsburg Summary:* Zone 5 detectives were conducting surveillance in the Homewood North area when they observe a black BMW pull up next to an unknown male and appear to make a drug deal. The detectives pulled behind the BMW as it accelerated up Brushton Avenue. A plastic Ziplock bag containing crack cocaine was discarded from the passenger window as the vehicle traveled up Brushton Avenue. Detectives stopped the car and detained the driver, Montay Clancy, and the passenger, Michael Kennedy. A search of the vehicle uncovered drug packaging materials and marijuana. A search of the Clancy's person uncovered marijuana that had been shoved down his pants. Detectives were also able to recover the cocaine that was discarded from the car prior to the traffic stop. Clancy and Kennedy were both arrested. (94120) *5/25/17 6:15 PM 400 block N. Beatty Avenue Arrestee: Todd Brown, Jr, 29, of East Liberty Summary:* Officers Harper, Velazquez, and Bednarowicz were dispatched to a complaint of a vehicle in the 400 block of N. Beatty Street that was blocking traffic. The caller told the 911 dispatcher that they believed the occupants of the car were involved in selling drugs. Upon arriving in the area, another officer was flagged-down by a resident who pointed to the vehicle in question and advised that it was involved in drug dealing. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana. The vehicle was searched and officers recovered (11) bags of marijuana, over $1,800.00 cash, and drug packaging materials. Brown was placed under arrest. The passenger was released. (95554) *5/28/17 1:12 AM Kelly Street & N. Homewood Avenue Arrestee: Dijon Aaron Robinson, 23, Unknown Address Summary:* Officers were patrolling the area when they heard six gunshots in their immediate vicinity. Moments later, a black Chevy Impala SS was seen speeding away from the area. A group on the sidewalk nearby indicated to officers that the shots came from black Impala. Officers went after the Impala and the driver immediately pulled over and stopped. Officers observed that the inside of the car smelled from a strong odor of marijuana and burnt gunpowder. A .40 caliber Taurus pistol was located under the driver's seat. A Taurus Millennium G2 pistol was located under the passenger seat. Both guns were both warm to the touch and a spent shell casing was found on the floor of the vehicle. Officers also recovered a backpack with a digital scale and a bag of marijuana. The driver of the vehicle, Dijon Robinson, was placed under arrest for Risking a Catastrophe, Possessing Instruments of a Crime, Discharging a Firearm, and felony drug offenses.
