Hey neighborhood dog owners. I wanted to tell you that last month our dog was attacked by a neighbor's white pit bull that often gets loose and roams the 700 block of Mellon to Portland, etc. I did not feel the need to post about it, but I was just walking our dog on Portland Ave and a stray brindle pit bull came after my dog. I turned on time to see it, growled at it (lol!) and it backed off, but kept wanting to come forward. Then this angel of a man came in his car, beeped at us to get in, and he drove us to safety. If it had not been for him, I don't know what would have happened. I told the police officer sitting on negley and stanton but I know that animal control may take all day to get there. There is ONE animal control unit for Allegheny County and they don't get there for hours. The police don't take action unless there is an attack on a human. anyway, I'm really annoyed, obviously, that I don't feel we can walk our small dog safely in our neighborhood these days. But I just want to alert you to be on guard. It's not just for our dogs, but our kids and ourselves. Pepper spray is on my A list these days. peace, christy -- "It is risky to be earnest.
