[Highland Park] Police Academy Firing Range Again
With the beginning of spring comes the warm comfort of evening shootouts at Pittsburgh's Police Academy Firing Range. My impression is that the Academy was to inform us of when they will be using the evening to hone their marksmanship skills, so that we would know to close our windows and turn up our radios. In the past couple of weeks there have been several evening celebrations from our servers-and-protectors-in-training, though I have seen no notice or schedule listed here. Does anyone know if the information is reaching the Highland Park Newsletter or this list-serve? Ian Jackson Street (pow! pow!)
Good Afternoon Mr. Lipsky, As a Stanton Heights resident who lives a few doors up from the scene where three Pittsburgh Police Officers were fatally wounded, and the former Commander of Zone 5, it is with great sadness that I read your flippant and insensitive remarks regarding officers engaging in life-saving training not "celebrating or participating in shootouts." Actually on 4-4-2009 our officers were engaged in a shootout and unfortunately 3 officers lost their lives. As for the schedule, it was disseminated on the list serve about a week or two ago but in case it needs to be reposted our training schedule is as follows from 1600-2000 hours. May 4-7 May 11-14 May 18-21 September 14-17 October 5-8 Cmdr RaShall M. Brackney, Commander City of Pittsburgh, Bureau of Police Zone 1 Station 1501 Brighton Road Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212 Office: (412) 323-7200 Fax: (412) 323-7249 -----Original Message----- From: neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com [mailto:neighborhood-bounces@highlandparkpa.com] On Behalf Of ian lipsky Sent: Tuesday, April 21, 2009 5:35 PM To: neighborhood@highlandparkpa.com Subject: [Highland Park] Police Academy Firing Range Again With the beginning of spring comes the warm comfort of evening shootouts at Pittsburgh's Police Academy Firing Range.
