Hunt Armory renovation NEEDS your quick action -- Formal community support growing for Community Rec. Center/Ice Rink... Still need support - Action
Dear Neighbor: A massive public response of 1000s of email, several petitions with several thousand signatures each, and other expressions of community opinion made a difference in the Hunt Amory process. Because of this public pressure, the Selection Committee decided NOT to act and passed all 3 proposals to the URA board. This means the High Density Apartment option is still a threat to passed by the powers that be because of $$ considerations – Incredibly this remains a real threat. Your actions are working… BUT we need to KEEP UP THE PRSSURE until this Thursday the 10th. Please take action, RESEND EMAIL 2 groups of people below: 1. Our Elected Officials: Make it clear to Gilman and Peduto that community involvement is just that... they must support what the community has told them they want. They must formally REJECT the apartment option or face the consequence during the next election. 2. The URA Board: Tell them what you want. We have been told that at least 1 member is focused on $$, not community opinion. It is critical they hear directly from you. Our group (Most neighbors of Shadyside//East End and all institutions below) support the Ice Rinks/Recreation Center proposal: Ice Rinks, Activity Rooms, Wellness Programs, Cafe, Open Public Areas, WIFI, Walking Track and More. 140 Park Spaces ADD parking space to area. Walk, Bike, Bus to Fantastic Enhancement to Urban Living for All Communities of East End. The Other Alternative Proposal: There is a 3rd, alternative proposal for a business incubator project with other features that have some community use. Here is a link to a good page that explains and argues for their option. https://www.facebook.com/Hunt-Armory-Development-for-a-higher-community-use-.... We have nothing against this proposal, we simply prefer the Ice Rink/Recreation Center option better. EMAILS ADDRESSES: 1.
