As I have stated before, our new Zone 5 Police Commander, Jason Lando, wants to have more open communication within the Zone. He is sending out regular crime updates to keep everyone abreast of what is happening around them. I have attached maps of both Zone 5 and Highland Park to help you understand where these crimes are occurring. In the list below, only one crime occurred in Highland Park proper, but I am sorry to say, it was a serious incident. This is the second incident of this type in our neighborhood this year. The first one was last month at N. St. Clair & Elgin. That suspect was described as a black male, in his 20's, with a black pistol, the victim's purse was stolen. The suspect possibly fled in a silver Subaru with the last 4 digits of the plate being 7863. The police do not know if these 2 crimes are linked yet, but are working on it. Until the perpetrator is apprehended, please use extra caution when out walking. And if you see anything suspicious, please call 911 immediately.
