Kicking off at 4 pm downtown, activities will include the Clearview Family Fun Zone, Trulieve Veterans Wellness Corner and non-stop musical entertainment on the main stage in Point State Park. As well as the Peoples Natural Gas Food Truck Corral and Sargent Electric Stage along Liberty Avenue. Across the river on the North Shore, a Fireside DJ will entertain on the PNC Great Lawn, the location of the RE/MAX hot air balloon and a variety of food concessionaires. Fireworks – the day’s main attraction – will begin at 9:35 pm. “The Independence Day tradition in Pittsburgh is one that is enjoyed by people throughout the region. It brings thousands of people together to celebrate with one another,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “We are fortunate to have amazing partners with us to create a welcoming event for all. Let's all safely enjoy the Fourth of July festivities.” Pittsburgh’s Independence Day celebration will showcase local and nationally touring performers including Squonk’s “Brouhaha,” an immersive outdoor spectacle of music, imagery, and audience participation. Prior to the fireworks extravaganza, Mr. Smalls 90s Summer Jam will entertain the crowd gathered in Point State Park. The day’s main attraction – fireworks illuminating the Pittsburgh skyline – will begin at 9:35 pm. Tune in to 100.1 FM KDKA for a live broadcast of a 25-minute fireworks soundtrack paying tribute to Independence Day. Viewers can watch the celebration from home live on WPXI-TV. The security checkpoint at the entrance to Point State Park will open at 4 pm and close at 9:30 pm. After this time, no entry or re-entry into the park will be permitted. “We are proud to once again join the City of Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Celebration by providing the Trulieve Veterans Wellness Corner,” said Trulieve’s PA Director of State Operations, Nick Rassler. “Supporting American veterans is a foundational pillar of our advocacy and volunteer efforts, and Trulieve is honored to give back to those who have served and sacrificed so much to defend our freedom.” The 2024 City of Pittsburgh Independence Day Celebration is made possible with support from WPXI-TV, Audacy Radio Pittsburgh, VisitPITTSBURGH, and the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
