[Highland Park] Carpooling to downtown?
If the Port Authority strike comes to pass, I will be in need of finding a carpool from Highland Park to downtown for work. Driving isn't very feasible and I would much rather contribute to someone else's gas and parking costs than have to drive and find a parking spot myself. And the more we can all carpool the less horrible the parking situation downtown will be if this strike happens. I typically leave HP at 8am and leave town at 5pm (M-F), but my schedule is flexible as long as I can work 8 hours and be home by 6. I work near 4th and Wood, but I'm willing to walk as long as the drop-off is somewhere in the golden triangle. Anyone have an available seat? thanks, Amy
Sorry, I failed to change the subject when I sent the first message. I have four tickets to the Walking With Dinosaurs show at Mellon Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6th at 11 am. The problem is that my kids' school has an important activity that day which I didn't find out about until last week, so we can't go. They're great seats, in the C section, and I got a good deal on them - $147.35 for all four tickets, which includes all the fees. PayPal is my preferred method of payment. I can mail the tickets,or I can deliver them in person if you prefer. I work in Green Tree, live in the North Hills, and spend time in the East End, so there are a number of options for meeting to hand off the tickets if you don't want them mailed. I prefer to sell all four as group, but would consider selling pairs. Karen Kasper
Ditto on that. My situation is a bit more precarious, however, in that I DO drive but I DON'T OWN a vehicle. I work normally Wed. through Sun. in Squirrel Hill 7 am - 3 pm est. I'm pretty sure that, if the worst should happen with the strike, my boss would let me be flexible with the hours, somewhat. Since I don't own a car, I have nowhere to use my G. Eagle fuelperks, so those are up for grabs to any potential drivers. Any early-bird hospital workers who could swing near Squirrel Hill--(I live off Bryant Street in Highland Park)? Thanks! all: i, too, am giving up on driving downtown - and would like to give up on port authority too. i work on the corner of smithfield and first ave... and would be happy to walk from anywhere downtown, or station square. i typically work from 8:30 to 5:30 or so, but am very flexible, and would even consider different hours on different days. i'm happy to contribute to parking costs as well as gas costs, and promise to be good company. elvira 412.512.4725 On 11/25/08, amers@att.net <amers@att.net> wrote:

Maybe a crazy idea for some, but driving or the bus aren't the only ways to get downtown. I'd be more than happy to give folks some practical advice about riding a bike to work! Bikes, clothing, lights, etc.... I ride to work through it all. Let me know! Kevin Jackson Street.
