Raccoon Humane Removal Experience
Hello, We were away for 2 weeks but along with enjoying our vacation, we were navigating with our in house pet sitter what to do about the visiting raccoon who was determined to perhaps make our house his home. We called various humane wildlife removal companies. The only one to respond and did so right away was Three Rivers Wildlife Control. They set traps on both sides of the house with jelly donuts for bait. The second day found 2 opossums in the traps, and yesterday morning the little guy was trapped. Steve identified him as a young male with the same markings as the one in the videos, and was certain that he was the same raccoon. He identified it as a male because females make a big fuss when trapped. All animals are relocated up to public lands near Wexford. Anyway, this is what we learned from the experience: - Raccoons can climb up walls- especially corbeled bricks like ours. - At this time of year, young raccoons are looking for warm cozy homes. - He most likely came through the alley where there is a surplus of food from garbage- knocked over cans or ripped open bags. -Deer are feasting on the acorns from the oak trees in the front that are on the sidewalks now. - We hadn't seen opossums in the yard and they also like jelly donuts. - The Three Rivers team is great, we would highly recommend ! Hello, I failed to include that our cutie raccoon was climbing up to box gutters on the 3rd floor and tapping on the windows in the middle of the night for a number of days. He was most likely intent on finding a way in to live somewhere in our house as the weather gets colder. That means a way in and out. He wasn’t just hanging out in the backyard or the porch.
