Neighbors, I wanted to make everyone aware of a wonderful community day camp called Art in the Garden. It is for children ages 4-11 and is located in the Borland Garden behind Obama school. The camp runs for 9 weeks in the summer and is FREE to all children. In addition free breakfast and lunch is provided. Priority is given to low income families but everyone is welcome if there is space. This camp was a fantastic experience for our 5-year-old daughter. She attended for 4 weeks this summer in between sessions of her other camps. It is entirely outdoors and the emphasis is on social and emotional learning through nature, culture and art. We found the teachers and caregivers to be exceptional - kind, nurturing and enthusiastic - and the programming was inclusive, fun and creative. She came home dirty and exhausted every day.
