Highlights from Education Innovations, Inc. (As we approach our 1st Anniversary in Highland Park) Education Innovations, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the educational needs of Highland Park and the Pittsburgh area. Our mission is building communities of seekers, learners, and teachers who share the world as a classroom. We fulfill our mission through the generous contributions of individuals and organizations, and through the services we provide. Your tax-deductible gift of any amount ensures improved educational choices in the neighborhood and the city. * March is Education Innovations, Inc. month at Tazza D'oro: Look for Amy when she was a wee little girl on each table at the cafe. * Three exciting summer programs: NatureLAB, The Young Entrepreneur's Club, and The Young Writers' Workshop. * Current Services. Tutoring and daily Homework Club. * Grant from PNC Foundation and HPCC to develop The Young Entrepreneur's Club@Fulton. * We have moved! March is Education Innovations, Inc. Month at Tazza D'oro Amy Enrico is supporting our Young Entrepreneur's Club by declaring March as Education Innovations, Inc. Month at Tazza D'oro. In return, we will be providing business and economic opportunities to youth in the area. You can participate several ways: * Every time you make a purchase, grab a coupon at the front, and Amy will donate 10% of your purchase to us. *You can also make a straight donation into the donation jar. * Send your tax-deductible donation to our address below * Join us at two game nights scheduled later in the month (details to come) * Join us for a pasta night at the end of the month (details to come) Summer Programming. We have three unique offerings for the summer. Enroll for 1 or enroll for all 3. Each program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00Am until 12:00Pm. Call 412.363.7707 for more details. * NatureLAB Session 1 - June 21 through July 2 or Session 2 - July 12 through July 23 It's not science until you've done it hands-on! In NatureLAB, upper elementary through middle school students will experience science in an urban setting. * The Young Entrepreneur's Club July 26 through August 6 Money does indeed make the world go around. In The Young Entrepreneur's Club, upper elementary through middle school students will sharpen their business acumen by learning how money is earned, spent, and grown. * The Young Writers' Workshop August 9 through August 20 Writing is an art-a careful translation of life into similes and metaphors. In the Young Writer's Workshop, aspiring wordsmiths will use techniques used by artists to express the deepest of truths found in the world around them. * We also have a variety of summer learning support packages. Whether your child needs help catching up, or needs customized experiences to get ahead, we can help through our Enhanced Learning System. Look for information at Tazza D'oro, or call us for a brochure. Current Services * Learning Support Services (Tutoring.) Our approach is comprehensive. We dialogue with your child's teachers, analyze previous test data, and then incorporate your child's interest into a curriculum that is relevant specifically for your child. * The Homework Club. After school, children enjoy a snack and receive professional assistance with their homework. They enjoy the convenience of cable internet to research for school project and meet other children from the neighborhood. Grant from PNC Foundation. The PNC Foundation has awarded us a grant to develop the Young Entrepreneur's Club@FULTON. The Highland Park Community Club graciously matched a portion of the PNC grant. Thanks to PNC and HPCC! Over 10 weeks starting in March, we will provide ten fifth graders at Fulton with the opportunity to learn about business and how local entrepreneurs got their start. In the end, the students will have developed and implemented their own business plan. Look for them while they get some training at Tazza D'oro. We have moved. At the beginning of the year, EI, Inc. decided that we would best serve our stakeholders at a different location. Look for us at 914 Heberton Street.
