A reminder to all that Choral Evensong in the Second Week of Easter, observing the Feast of St. Philip and St. James, Apostles, will be Thursday evening, May 1, at 8 p.m. Some great Easter music to be offered by the Choir, and a recital after the service by the Cobalt Quartet, an ensemble of young people from the Three Rivers Youth Orchestra. A reminder as well again of our Marathon Weekend schedule. A number of our St. Andrew's folks who live out beyond the immediate neighborhood, and a number of in-neighborhood folks who ordinarily attend churches outside the neighborhood, prefer to avoid the complications of Marathon Sunday traffic. And of course, some among us will be running (have a great race!) and others will want to spend the great morning out on the sidewalk cheering on friends and family members and enjoying the festival . . . . So, for all the above: St. Andrew's will have a simple service of Holy Communion on "Marathon Saturday" at 5 p.m.--in addition to simpler-than-usual services on Sunday morning at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Our Church School takes Marathon Sunday as a day off, but Nursery Care will continue for the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services. For those coming to church on Sunday morning--St. Andrew's of course sits right at the northern edge of the Marathon loop. Those coming in from "outside" the loop may wish to approach by way of the Highland Park Bridge, coming up through the Zoo and then parking above Bryant Street and walking a block or two to the church. You may also park beyond N. Negley or N. Highland Avenues, and then cross the Marathon Route when it appears safe to do so. As an incentive to come for worship at 11 a.m. this "Marathon Sunday," we'll note that special music is to be shared during the service by Jeremy Black, violinist with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra . . . . Should be a lovely way to mark the Third Sunday of Eastertide . . . . BruceR
