[Highland Park] List of knife sharpening recomendations
Thanks so much to everyone for responding (too many to respond to individually). It's just amazing how well this community listserv works for legitimate postings,,, Sooo, it's a short, but very impressive, list - a grand total of exactly one (almost) unanimous recommendation by many different people,,, drumroll, please,,, <http://www.yellowpages.com/pittsburgh-pa/mip/maturi-brothers-inc-2478150?li d=2478150> Maturi Brothers Inc 3908 Penn Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15224 (412) 682-5828 They are open 7-3 0r 4, m-f just walk in the back door from the parking lot and tell them you need your knives sharpened. They'll have them done in a few minutes. $2.50 a knife The sharpen just about everything else as well. I like this place a lot. Besides doing great work, they sell first rate reconditioned restaurant kitchen knives at very cheap prices. The chefs at Food Glorious Food have suggested Maturi Brothers I've gone there for years and been pleased. ,,, I know a lot of restaurants use them. Other recommendations I've used Lee's Hardware in Homestead, on the other side of the High Level Bridge ... going right off the bridge going into the main street/ commercial area of Homestead. I've also heard the small hardware store on Murray Ave, near Beacon St., sharpens knives. At Ralph's Surplus/Outdoor Store on Rt. 22 in Monroeville I purchased a dandy knife sharpener; it is idiot proof to which I can attest the claim. Best, Jonathan
