Hey neighbors! I just wanted to alert all of you to an awesome long term volunteer opportunity at a great store in Pittsburgh! Ten Thousand Villages (TTV), a fair trade retailer since 1946, has nearly 400 retail outlets across the country, including on in Squirrel Hill. One of the coolest things about TTV is that it is almost completely staffed by volunteers: most of the people who greet you and check you out when you enter the store are not paid. I've been one of those volunteers for about a year and a half now. Because of this, more of the revenue from the sales can go back to the artisans, increasing orders as well as expanding the retail network. The holiday season is a busy one at TTV, and when more volunteers are definitely needed! If you're an adult looking to give back in an awesome way or a teenager (16 or older) looking for a fun way to earn service hours (as well as gain some valuable customer service experience), this is a great opportunity for you.
