Many thanks to everyone who responded with ideas about finding a good canine match for our family, especially those who encouraged me to check out shelters. We found a dog who likes cats and bunnies at Animal Friends and brought him home today. He is blind and perfect! There is a dog named Baxter at AF who is in great need of a home. He is a 12 year old lab mix who likes cats. We considered him too but he failed the rabbit test. If you have room in your heart for an old man whose had a rough time please consider Baxter.
