[Highland Park] Found Dog
Hello neighbors! There was a dog running loose - back and forth across the street - on the 800 block of N. Euclid early Sunday afternoon. He was skittish around people and no one could catch him. Then, we walked our dog, and he came over to greet our dog and turned into a little love god. We aren't able to foster him, so we took him to the Animal Rescue League on Hamilton Ave. Details: 10 mos - 1 year. Tan, short coated pit mix. Very much a mix. Black mask (muzzle). Slender, long legs. Looks well-cared for. Ears not cropped - erect at the base, then flopped forward. Intact male. No collar or microchip. About 30 pounds. Honestly, if we didn't already have a wild adolescent male dog in our house, we would have fostered him and kept him if we couldn't have found the owner. He's very sweet, but we can't handle and train 2 male adolescent dogs at the same time. He didn't mind being temporarily stored in our fenced back yard. Didn't mind being loaded into a crate in the car. Rode well in the car. Calm and attentive at the ARL. If this is your dog - go to the ARL. His ID is A20874697. If no one claims him, and you are looking for a dog, you might want to look at him. Yes, he has pit in him, but he is more something else. PS: I don't dislike pits - they are just more than the average family can handle. Most terriers are more than the average family can handle. I started with terriers 39 years ago. They are wonderful, but tough dogs, and require a lot of gentle, intelligent training. Jan
