Kingsley Association News!!!! The good...as well as challenging
Hello neighbors, I'd like to highlight several things about the Kingsley Association, the longtime (130 years!) community center serving Pittsburgh's East End. GOOD NEWS First, the good news. Kingsley just finished an outstanding $1.5 M pool renovation and reopened last month. If you like to swim (or play pickleball, or basketball, or do yoga and Pilates) we are welcoming new members through single, senior or family memberships<https://www.kingsleyassociation.org/membership>. You can find out all about Kingsley at our updated website<https://www.kingsleyassociation.org/>. CHALLENGING NEWS While we're excited about the pool opening, unforesoon cost overruns and recent funding cuts have put the Kingsley in a challenging situation. We are working hard and confident that we'll get through this, but nonetheless, it's serious. Here is an excellent article by the New Pittsburgh Courier<https://newpittsburghcourier.com/2025/06/04/courier-exclusive-kingsley-association-in-dire-financial-situation-almost-closed-its-doors/> that clearly details the situation. WAYS FOR YOU TO HELP Kingsley is hosting its 2<https://www.kingsleyassociation.org/sneaker-ball>nd<https://www.kingsleyassociation.org/sneaker-ball> annual Sneaker Ball<https://www.kingsleyassociation.org/sneaker-ball> (aka party for people of all ages) to raise funds and have fun in support of Kingsley. We're also not opposed to straight up donations<https://operations.daxko.com/online/5337/OnlineGiving/Donation.mvc?campaign_id=6247> for the cause! Finally, we've got outstanding rental space available and/or are in search of any potential partnerships with corporations or other organizations that will help us sustain the Kingsley for everyone in the years to come! Please email me back or info@kingsleyassociation.org<mailto:info@kingsleyassociation.org> with any ideas. Thanks, Ted
Hi everyone, I am a retired teacher and guidance counselor from the pgh public schools and I take the IGIA class at kingsley. The teacher, gia, is wonderful and i feel that she has helped me to stay more limber and to chase the aches of getting older away. Most of the class is in a chair but i can still feel the workout. Everyone is welcome at any age, young or old. Come in and introduce yourself to GIA and tell her that Ginny sent you! Hi, I also use the convenience of Kingsley. I swim laps in the newly renovated pool and it’s better than ever. I used to take Gia’s class and I agree that she is wonderful. Our daughter swims laps and lift weights, as does her husband, and they both love that it is so close by. If you haven’t tried using the facilities yet, or haven’t in awhile, I highly recommend trying them out. The membership fee is reasonable and it would be a shame to lose this to lose this resource which is only a 10 minute drive!
