The man lived alone in his home, and we believe he had a fenced-in yard for the dogs to get outside. After a few weeks, the neighbors of this gentleman realized they had not seen him in some time, and sent the police in to check on him. He had been dead in the house for over TWO WEEKS.... The dogs were traumatized by the death of their owner, and left with no food. The lab mix is over 10+ years, and eventually a friend of the family stepped to take him. That leaves our Nellie who is only 2&1/2 - 3 years in age, a medium-sized dog, and extremely shy and scared. She is not yet spayed, but can be done this coming Wednesday. She is ( I believe ) a true mixed breed girl, possibly a touch of Shepherd, a bit of Boxer, some terrier...it makes no difference since she is desperate for a person or family who let her decompress and realize she can be loved again and Forever. She is submissive andas gentle as a lamb, and great with other dogs and cats. She will not come to you till she gets a bit comfortable with you since she is so scared. I my opinion that makes her - at least initially - a flight risk for an inexperienced owner. She cannot be left outside alone, I would think, just in case she could jump a short fence. I need your help with this young girl, my friends. She is amazing , and so loving. I can't imagine the grief she must feel losingnot only her owner, but now her only dog companion, as well. This kind of dog in this kind of situation with this much need is why we do what we do
