[Highland Park] Custom Screen and Storm Window responses
Last week I asked for custom screen & storm window builder recommendations. I received many responses. Thank you everyone who responded! Also many others asked for the list. So here they all are.... -Heidi Screens & Storm Windows 1. Hi. There is a wonderful place called Allied Millwork of Pgh -- speak with Chuck, owner. They are located in Lawrenceville, strip district - on Penn Ave & they have a website. They do make custom fine windows & doors but I am not sure about your search for "storm windows." However, they are extremely competent and do excellent work especially regarding non-traditional shapes. I have an arch top front door and they made a superb door for me. They are not cheap or inexpensive though. I know they make wood screen doors -- but I do not know about storm windows. But if they don't, maybe they could steer you in the right direction. 2. I'm not sure if they are still doing this, but...Rollier's Hardware used to provide this service years ago when they were located on Walnut Street. They now have a location in Mt.Lebanon on the mainstreet. They may still do this or know someone who does. 3. Call Tom Morgan 412-805-5602 4.There was a place in Penn Hills, bout 2 miles from Frankstown/Rodi intersection, that I got an estimate from some years ago. They fabricated both screen inserts and retractables. Can't recall the name, but check YPs or Pennysaver. 5.I'd check with Ralph Chester cell #412-897-1118 at Thermo Twin Windows; not sure if they do this type of work or not; I'm getting new double hung windows through him. 6.try dun rite in sharpsberg they do good work 7.Pittsburgh Window and Doors was recommended to me. The guy came out this week and gave me what I thought was a reasonable quote for screens for odd sized windows on our front porch and a couple of large windows upstairs. I obviously don't have the windows yet, but he was very professional and I liked his ideas. I don't have his card handy, but they are in the phone book. 8. DunRite on Main Str in Sharpsburg made a set for windows, none casement though. We are vey satisfied. Worth a call. 9.I have had a lot of work done by Phil Camillo- double hung windows, doors, storm doors, and glass block. He is reliable, clean, and reasonably priced. If he can't help, he will know who will. (412) 759-1429
