[Highland Park] November Musical Event
“Cantar de Los Muertos Please join us on November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Shadyside for our Patron Event, “Cantar de Los Muertos.” Vocal Instructor Jett Christensen will give a recital of classical pieces which illuminate *The Elegant Curmudgeon, *an original story about an old man who faces his death with ferocity, humor, and mourning. Musical selections include “Corpus Christi Carol” by Benjamin Britten, arias from Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi , and“Danse Macabre” by Saint-Seans. Following the recital, attendees will have the opportunity to decorate temporary shrines in honor of deceased friends and family and then gather for a dance party in honor of the dead. A live band will accompany the dance and Singers from the East End Song Studio will each offer a song. Traditional face paint for the Mexican Holiday of “El Dia de Los Muertos” is encouraged. A face painting booth will be available. November 2nd, 2013 at 6:30 P.M. Tickets $14.95 in advance at www.eastendsongstudio.com $20.00 at the door. Cash, Credit, and Debit cards accepted at the door.
