[Highland Park] Summer youth and family arts opportunities
Hello Neighbors, Union Project is offering some wonderful arts opportunities for families, kids, and adults of all experience levels. Also, feel free to call with any questions or to register: 412-363-4550 ex22 *Re:create Arts Camp* A collaboration between Creative Reuse Pittsburgh and Union Project, this week-long art camp is filled with earth-friendly, hands-on projects including recycled glass mosaics, salvaged art sculpture, and ceramics. Your kids will be encouraged to rethink the value of mud, scraps, and trash to make beautiful artworks. So, sign your kids up for a fun opportunity to get their hands dirty and creative juices flowing. Monday-Friday, June 21-25, 9am-12pm Monday-Friday, July 19-23, 1pm-4pm Ages 8-12 *Family Mosaic Art Camp* Work together as a family to create a mosaic window for your home! Using salvaged stained glass and reused windows, you will transform broken scraps into a colorful, collaborative work of art. We'll make individual sun catchers, draw out designs, listen to our favorite music, and create! A wonderful way to spend time together and meet other families in the neighborhood. Monday-Friday, Aug 16-20, 9am-12pm All Ages *Young Women's Ceramics Camp * For this ten day camp, the young women will develop their skills on the potter's wheel together in a welcoming, community art space. This class is designed for all experience levels and instruction will begin with the basics: centering, making small pots, trimming, and glazing techniques. By creating ceramic artwork everyday during the camp, the students will be encouraged to develop self-confidence and excitement through their progress, invest in relationships with peers and neighbors, and take ome their handmade pots at the end. Will be great fun! 10 Days, Aug 2-6 & 9-13, 1-4pm Ages 13-16 *Family Ceramics Class * Come explore your creative side with your children. In this class, parents and children will get their hands dirty together while learning some basic ceramic techniques. Students will learn hand-building and the potter's wheel, as well as decorating and glazing techniques to create fun and functional pots for your home.\ 8 Wednesdays, June 16-Aug 4, 6:30-8:30pm Ages 8 and up *Father's Day Clay Workshop* *Join us at Union Project for some Father's Day mug-making fun! The whole family is welcome and no experience is necessary. Bring Dad, or leave him home and make him a gift. We'll create functional ceramic mugs, incorporate texture, attach handles, and add some color. * Come because you like spending time with your family, you've never been inside Union Project's ceramics studio, you love trying new things, we want to meet you, and of course because Dad needs a new favorite coffee cup made by YOU!
