Clothing Drive---Breaking the world record!
Hello Neighbors! Do you know what the current World Record is for collecting and distributing gently used clothing? As of September—when we did our research—it was 146,411 articles of clothing. I say “was” because we are going to break this record. The Office of PittServes at the University of Pittsburgh will begin collecting clothes November 1st and continue to collect through January. These clothes will then be sorted, counted, and distributed to on-campus, nonprofit partners, and donation based thrift stores. Right around now, at the changing of the seasons, as we begin to pack away the summer (fall?!) attire and bring forth the winter, please bag any clothes that you no longer wear/no longer need. The Office of PittServes is located on the 9th floor of the William Pitt Union, 3959 Fifth Avenue in Oakland. I understand that dropping at this location could be out of the way for many Highland Parkers, so if it is easier; feel free to drop off clothing to my HP home & I will coordinate the transporation of bringing it in the office with me. If you are unable to drop it off, please reply to this email & we can hopefully coordinate a pick-up! Have you ever broken a world record before? Let's be a part of a huge collaboration! Let me know if you have clothes to drop off! Thank you! Katie Blackburn
