Sunday, February 26, 2017 1 to 3 pm *YogaHive <http://yogahivepgh.com/> *Garfield/Friendship: 5491 Penn Avenue Cost: $30/$25 Student ID Register HERE <http://bit.ly/2jVAl9u> *Coming Home to the Body/Mind through Trauma-Sensitive Yoga* Originally designed for survivors of intense physical, emotional, or psychological violence, trauma-sensitive yoga benefits all people coping with intense stress, In this workshop, you will learn to - Accept and befriend your body from the inside out; - Make choices based on your experiences of your own body, gaining a greater sense of agency; - Take effective action to improve your situation; and - Create rhythms to feel more in tune with yourself and with others. This workshop is suitable for *all bodies* at all levels of yoga knowledge, strength, and flexibility. Beginners will learn from the gentle, contemplative approach to the practice, while seasoned yogis will deepen their understanding of basic asanas and pranayama. Instructor: Kimberly Latta, Ph.D., a licensed social worker, therapist, and registered yoga teacher. Kimberly has taught numerous courses on gender and trauma for graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh. She has worked with adult survivors of trauma, including veterans, at the Women's Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, and Mercy Behavioral Health. She is available for private sessions of yoga therapy.
