I got the name of Chris Carney from the listserv for window repair and he came today. He was terrific. He fixed three windows whose ropes were broken. He took the frame apart, retrieved the weight, replaced the rope, re-hung the weight and reassembled the window. He is busy but was able to fit me in within a couple of weeks.
