[Highland Park] Pet for Adoption Due to Allergies of Child
Posting for a friend and colleague.... ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Debra Elkins <dbr1mllr@yahoo.com> Date: Fri, Jan 27, 2012 at 1:23 PM Subject: Pet for Adoption Due to Allergies of Child To: "treemasterspghpa@gmail.com" <treemasterspghpa@gmail.com> ADULT CAT FOR ADOPTION: Our child has been diagnosed as allergic to cats since 4 years ago. At that time, it was labeled a mild allergy and we opted to restrict the rooms the cats had access to, bathe them weekly, and work with our child's allergist to monitor the situation. Recently, after another allergy test and some asthma illness, the recommendation has been given that we should remove the cats from our home. Our cat Maddie is an 11 year old DSH female that we have owned since she was a kitten. We purchased her from Petco and we have all the paperwork from that sale and her vets/immunizations. She is a lovable cat and adores sitting on our laps. She is very healthy. Maddie is an indoor cat, and on a few occasions, we have taken her in our backyard on a leash. She loves to play with strings, furry toys, small toy mice, and crumpled up pieces of paper. When she was allowed in the bedrooms, Maddie would always sleep at the foot of our bed. She has been great with our child and will quickly escape away if needed. She has never scratched my child. Maddie gets along well with our other male cat. I don't believe she would do well with another female. We would like her to be adopted locally so we may visit her from time to time, if the adopting party is agreeable, to help with the transition. We live in the Squirrel Hill area of the city and my work place is located in Highland Park. If you are interested in adopting Maddie, please let us know. We would love to introduce you to her, answer any questions you may have, and get to know you. She is a treasured family member. Thanks. Debra Elkins and family 412-779-8154 (work)
